Since the beginning, we have always valued the importance of new music written by living composers. For our third composer portrait, we're beyond thrilled to feature the music of one of today's most exciting and dynamic composers and new Austin resident, Nina C. Young.
Alongside their music, the show will also include Nina Young's Bayu-bayu, Joe Williams' Nude No. 5, and Quinn Collins' The land we stand on is ours.
Christabel Lin, Evan Sankey, Stephen Krishnan, Tim Shuster, Nick Galuban
Golden Hornet's Young Composer Concert invites Austin-area youth ages 12–18 to compose original pieces of music with the guidance of a professional mentor and as part of a collective production team. A professional ensemble then performs student pieces, with the participant work reaching new audiences—such as those listening to KMFA and KUTX.
Students selected to participate will receive various benefits for their contributions. The third annual rendition of this concert will take place on March 25, 2018.
Join us for our second composer portrait—featuring the music of composer Sam Lipman.
